Karen, originally from Massachusetts, has made Atlanta her home for many years. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Framingham State University and a Master of Education in Early Childhood from Georgia State University. With 38 years of experience in education, Karen retired from the Clayton County Public School System in 2015. Throughout her tenure, she held various roles including classroom teacher for third, fourth, and fifth grades, participation in the Early Intervention Program, literacy and math coaching, instructional site facilitation, and curriculum development for language arts, math, and social studies.Additionally, Karen coordinated a yearly Math & Science Summer Camp, facilitated a Math Competition, and supervised Clayton County’s Summer School program before retiring.
For the past eight years, she has been a vital resource and supporter with Path to Shine. She has been a mentor with Path To Shine, assists in mentor training, and serves as a Site Liaison for four Path To Shine sites.
Karen looks forward to visiting family and Cape Cod every summer, loves traveling within the
United States, as well as Internationally, and enjoys painting.
